The Virginia Association of Recovery Residences (VARR) is the accrediting agency in Virginia for the National Alliance of Recovery Residences. VARR’s mission is to set high standards for quality recovery residences in Virginia and accredit residences that meet its rigorous criteria.  VARR monitors, evaluates, and improves standards to build the highest level of quality for recovery residences.  Georgia’s House is the first and only accredited recovery residence in the region which includes Charlottesville and surrounding areas. Georgia’s Friends’ founder, Dr. Dorothy Tompkins was elected to the VARR Board at its annual meeting in January 2020.  Dorothy will serve as a mentor and convener of other certified recovery residences in our region.
