About the Film Screening Event
The Creative High
THE CREATIVE HIGH explores how artists grappling with substance use disorder harness creative expression to heal and rebuild meaningful lives. Through hip-hop, theater, dance, rock and roll, photography and painting, this revealing documentary showcases how various art mediums can inspire resilience and celebrate the human spirit. From the exhilarating rush of performance to soulful moments in the studio, each artist navigates recovery through art. Candid interviews and intimate portrayals spotlight the complexities of addiction and recovery, offering a nuanced perspective. Seeking an alternative ‘high’ through creativity provides a gateway to vitality and spiritual connection.
Film Screening
As part of our 10-Year Anniversary Celebration, Georgia’s Friends is honored to partner with filmmaker Adriana Marchione for a special screening of her powerful documentary, The Creative High.
This transformative film explores how creative expression becomes a vital pathway to healing and sustained recovery. Through music, art, dance, writing, and storytelling, The Creative High follows individuals who are rebuilding their lives and discovering purpose beyond addiction.
For a decade, Georgia’s Friends has walked alongside women in early recovery — offering safe housing, community, accountability, and hope. This screening reflects what we witness every day: recovery is not just about abstinence; it is about rediscovering identity, joy, and creative possibility. This evening will be more than a film screening — it will be a celebration of resilience, artistry, and the power of community to transform lives.
We invite our supporters, partners, and community members to join us as we honor the women we serve, the journey of recovery, and the next decade of impact.
Together, we celebrate 10 years of hope — and the creativity that fuels lasting recovery.
Silent Auction
As part of the evening’s celebration, Georgia’s Friends will host a special silent auction featuring original artwork created by current residents and alumnae. These pieces—spanning various mediums including painting, mixed media, poetry, and handcrafted works—reflect personal recovery journeys, resilience, and transformation. Each piece tells a story of healing, hope, and rediscovered identity. The artwork will be available exclusively at the event, offering attendees a meaningful opportunity to support the mission while taking home a one-of-a-kind creation rooted in courage and renewal. Proceeds from the auction directly support Georgia’s Friends’ work providing safe, structured recovery housing and supportive programming for women in early recovery.
This is an intimate pre-screening experience beginning at 6:00 PM before the 7:30 PM film. Guests will:
Enjoy light catering and connection
Hear deeper context about Georgia’s Friends and our 10-year journey
Engage in meaningful conversation around recovery, creativity, and hope
Directly support our anniversary fundraising goals
All proceeds from Behind the Scenes ticket sales will go to continuing the mission of Georgia’s Friends to support women in recovery.
Behind the Scenes
“The Creative High is a moving testimony to the power of healing through art, authenticity, and connection. These stories help counter the romantic notion that one 'has to suffer to be creative.”
